CMS Announces Partnership to Improve Dementia Care in Nursing Homes

CMS has announced that it will partner with states, facilities, advocacy groups and caregivers with the goal of reducing the use of antipsychotic drugs in nursing homes by 15% by the end of 2012.

To achieve this goal, CMS and its partners will provide:

• Enhanced training
• Increased transparency
• Alternatives to antipsychotic medications
